Why CAPTCHA is Used?

Did you ever wonder why CAPTCHA is used? We are damn sure about that you are completely vexed of this thing when you surf the internet. It is nothing but CAPTCHA code. It pays irritation to all off us.
Today we will interpret what is CAPTCHA and why CAPTCHA is used?

Why CAPTCHA is Used

Although, the most common type of CAPTCHA was invented in 1997 by  Mark D. Lillibridge, Martin Abadi, Krishna Bharat, and Andrei Z. Broder, the term CAPTCHA  was invented  Luis von Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas J. Hopper, and John Langford in 2003.

CAPTCHA  is backronym ward. It means Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart. By distorting an image, number or letter it is created just to make sure that no machine can pass the test using OCR technology. Then, an only human being will be able to take a specific service on the internet.

Captcha is generated by distorting an image with text/numbers, in such a way that any OCR technology fails, and only a human eye can read and make sense. Till date, there is no good automated captcha solving algorithm.

This system is used to distinct between human and robot(any computer). Say for example, you are going to sign up for an account on the internet. At the end of the sign-up form, you are asked to post the CAPTCHA code. It helps the authority to ensure that there are no robotic( who is going to pay with some sort of malware) creatures using their services.

Over the years, the CAPTCHAs are introduced in harder and smart way. The reason is very simple. Because, the previously used CAPTCHA code, now, can be detected by machines and some machines can solve this algorithm almost without errors. So, to ensure optimal security new types of CAPTCHAs needed to be injected.

However, CAPTCHA secures not only the services provider but also your info and most importantly it helps to create a malware free internet atmosphere.
